I have been posting my latest paintings on facebook to share with friends and other artists.  Most of the time, this venue is such a great resource to express opinions of paintings and give encouragement.  Recently, however, it blossomed into a few sales.  I posted that several paintings would be available at the Belmont Shore Art Walk.  Several clients came and bought paintings.  They were so supportive and encouraging.  On a different occasion, one of my clients spotted the painting of South Laguna on facebook  and expressed an interest in it. I entered the painting in a juried exhibition at SOCALPAPA's Gallery and now the same client decided to buy it.  I think this venue has such potential and is so user-friendly.

I've had my portfolio up on Facebook since I joined in 2007, and folks love it! I think I've created some interest in my work there, but I still don't think most people will buy paintings online - they have to see them in the flesh. I have sold a few sight unseen but that is rare. Right now I am focusing on the upcoming release of my debut novel, HACK, in which the protagonist is a plein-air landscape painter! You can learn more about me at www.jebharrison.com or www.facebook.com/hacknovel

I just made my first sale on facebook! Some lady contacted me regarding one of my recently posted pictures and wanted to see a better image of the painting. She really liked and I am shipping it this Saturday to her. Hope this is just a beginning!

This is exciting. I can't say I've had similar experience, many people like my work but nobody buying it. I am planning to do a year-end sale and advertize on fb. We will see what happens.
