Art in the Pines is a 2-day
celebration of nature through
the interpretive eye of the
artist. After 2 successful years
it is being held for the 3rd year
at a time when the Reserve’s
wildflowers are in full bloom.
The outdoor venue is atop the
mesa near the Torrey Pines
The days will include music,
nature walks, children’s art
and activities, and artist
Artists of a variety of categories
from San Diego County will
display and sell their art for
the benefit of the educational
programs, mainly primary
school field trips. Enjoy walking
the reserve of Torrey Pines
while viewing nature-based
paintings, (oil, pastels, drawing,
watercolor, acrylic), sculpture,
ceramics and photography.
Competitions of recently
painted plein air paintings
representing the beauty of
Torrey Pines State Natural
Reserve will be a highlight.
Plein Air Competition
Fee: $25.00 (due after acceptance)
One piece to be displayed and
professionally judged. Your work needs
to be painted in or of Torrey Pines State
Natural Reserve between March 3 and
May 3, 2012. Your canvas will need to be
stamped at the docent desk in the Visitor
Center (available March 5). You will be
given a free parking pass for one month
beginning April 7, 2012.
1st place - $200 plus a lifetime
membership in the Torrey Pines
Association (value $1,000)
2nd place - $200
3rd place - $100
There will be a 35% commission charged
on pieces sold.
You may choose to participate in
any combination of venues.
